Two teenaged boys with very different lives find that they share a common bond--fathers they have never met who left when they were small boys--and in spite of their differences, they become close when they each need someone who understands.

Kamilla has a wonderful singing voice, but she does not want to sign up for the Memorial Middle School musical because she sees herself as overweight, even though the doctor tells her she is not--so can exercise and the support of her family and friends help her overcome her negative image and lead her to the starring role her talent demands?
